While exploring the creation of this piece, I was struck by how many colors can be found in the color black. So often black is used as one single color in my pieces, but this plant horse stretched my ability to see beyond my brains preconceived notion of a black horse. Rich blue shadows and purple highlights lead to mysterious feeling woven into the coat of this bright eyed horse.

This design came in the presence of a good friend, and I was struck by the image clear as day. A horse with a wild mane of plants, frolicking with movement and freedom, yet living and growing with fresh green life.
This painting proved to be an amazing discovery of creation as I learned how to incorporate color and movement, and I cannot wait to make more paintings like it.
